Hardware & Software Engineer - Biomedical Engineer

They have developed a medical device system that visualizes basophil cell degranulation after allergen exposure, offering clinically relevant and precise allergy diagnostics. Following a successful biological validation study, they are now expanding their research, collaborating with universities and deploying the system in multiple medical laboratories.

The Role

As a Hardware and Software Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of developing and refining this medical device system. Your focus will be on enhancing the hardware control software and evaluation algorithms, ensuring smooth operation in medical labs, and collaborating with researchers and technicians. Additionally, you’ll gather end-user feedback to optimize the system and oversee upgrade projects with external developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development – Improve and expand the hardware control software and evaluation algorithms.
• Technical Support – Ensure seamless operation of the system in medical laboratories, troubleshooting when necessary.
• Collaboration – Work closely with technicians and researchers performing allergy tests to align software functionality with user needs.
• Feedback Collection – Gather and analyze feedback from end-users to enhance technical functionality.
• Project Management – Oversee system upgrade projects, managing collaboration with external developers.

What We're Looking For

• ✅ Academic background – Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a strong interest in biomedical applications.
• ✅ Technical expertise – Experience in biomedical measurement techniques, software development, and hardware control systems.
• ✅ Problem-solving mindset – Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and optimize system performance.
• ✅ Collaboration & communication – Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with researchers, technicians, and external partners.
• ✅ Project management experience – Prior experience leading technical projects is a plus.
• ✅ Language skills – Speaking/understanding Dutch is a plus, but not a requirement.
